The Year 4 Poetry Page

The poems on this page were written by my Year 4 class at the end of a 2-week unit on different styles of poetry. Using pictures, objects and sounds within the classroom for inspiration, they spent one lesson planning their poems and writing at least a complete first draft. All work was done independently. They could write in the style of their choice, including a haiku, cinquain, couplets or chorus poem. They were asked to include one or more of the following: a pattern of syllables, rhyme, rhythm, alliteration or onomatopeia. The more the better! Of course, the use of effective adjectives, adverbs and similes were encouraged. Click on the arrow pointing to the top to go back to the list of names any time you like.

			A floppy eared dog is loveable to keep It's so fluffy and it likes eating apples It's got a really black nose It's so cute you won't be able to let him go And it finally goes to sleep "Goodnight" Cute fluffy dog loves me It goes to sleep twice a day When it wakes up it goes to find it's bone out from the garden It's covered in mud So instead of eating it he buries it again Floppy eared cute beautiful fluffy dog Loves bones and loves apples The dog likes its food And eats anything it sees Fluffy dog who loves apples and bones It's cute and beautiful It's got lots of teeth It's fallen to sleep Fluffy dog, floppy ears It can run as fast as the One Hundred Mile an Hour Dog One of its teeth fell out And its still growing It's going to be so sharp. 			Little, happy and calm. Little bunny is warm. Because he is hibernating from the cold snow. Little bunny's fur has to blow. 			The Rainbow Colourful, beaming, bright Blue, green, yellow, red, purple Fantastic, shocking Flowers Smells fresh Outstanding, great Attracting insects. WOW! Powerful. Smells nice. Fabulous! Sniff, sniff Emma
