There are many ruins around Tihosuco of colonial buildings which were partly destroyed during the Caste War. A few of these buildings have been renovated for private or public use. Many are standing as they have stood for the last century and a half, included within the gardens of the local inhabitants, some of whom have built local traditional pole and palm houses behind the ruins.
