The Planting Has Begun

As you can see from the boards laying on the ground in the far end of the Veg Patch, the planting has begun. It is beginning to go green with some weeds. Soon we hope it will go green with vegetables.

On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!

Last year we grew red onions from seed. They grew, but they were very small. This year, we have planted some onion 'sets' - small onions bulbs that will hopefully grow much bigger.

Follow The Red Onion Row...

We've planted a row of onion sets and still have lots left over to grow another row. The ground had settled quite a lot since the volunteers dug it some weeks ago. It needed a good dig to break it up again. It is still quite wet from all the rain we have had recently, which will be good to help the plant settle down and grow.

Are They Ready Yet?

The strawberry plant that decided to setlle in our garden is already in flower. It has also grown new leaves to help it capture the sunlight for food. We are hoping this year that we will get to the strawberries before the slugs do.

Well, Honestly!

We have no worries about not having any Honesty plants this year. All of the seedlings that you can see in this photo are small Honesty seedlings. A few of them will stay (remember - they are biannual, so they will grow lots of leaves this year, and then flower next year) but most will have to go. If you wish to have any for your garden, please do ask for some!

One Day, All This Will Be Green...

The Mini-Garden Hippo enjoyed watching us all work. He has his own ideas of what he would like planted where. Just in front of the white boards in the background, we have also planted a row of seeds - Salad Onions, Radishes and Carrots. There is still a loot more space. Runner Beans and Sweetcorn have been planted in bio-degradeable pots, that are now in the glasshouse.
