Can We Persuade You...? In the two weeks before the May Fayre, my literacy class made posters and wrote persuasive texts to read out to the other classes. One volunteer was so inspired that she made up this fantastic and colourful sign to put up at the Fayre. Now if this won't sell the plants, nothing will! |

|
Posters Galore! Most people in my literacy class also made up their own posters, some of which were laminated to put up around the plant stall. These are certainly very eye catching! |

My Card On top of the posters and persuasive texts, my class made up some persuasive business cards for May Fayre visitors to take home and find out more from this site. |

The Big Day! The May Fayre arrived, the plant fosterers brought their plants back (making sure they kept one as a 'thank you') and the stall was set up. Not only were our petunias and geraniums being sold, Mrs I. had also received a donation from a garden centre to sell and was selling some of her own plants. As a result, the stall was bursting to the seams with plants. |

Get Them Quick! I was told that the stall was busy for the whole afternoon, as people scooped up the great plants on sale and also came to find out more about what the Gardening Club were doing. But where was I? Unfortunately, this day coincided with an appointment I had arranged many months ago. I really wanted to split into two people on this day. Perhaps it's just as well I didn't... |

More Plants Anyone? At the end of the day, this was all that was left. Of the original petunias and geraniums we had grown, only the small number in the centre were left. The other geraniums were also donated to the stall. The skilled team on the stall had done a fantastic job and had braved the cold to do it. The day was a windy and fairly chilly one, but that didn't dampen their enthusiasm! |

The Team! Standing by Mr S.'s glasshouse, the Plant Selling team show us what's left. They even managed to sell some of these after the May Fayre too! That's what I call determination! A HUGE thank you has to be given to the team, as they managed to raise over £100 (of which half will go to the PSA - Parent School Association, and half will go the the Gardening Club). |

| The money raised from the May Fayre, put together with money the club has raised from selling beans over the past two years, means that we can now buy seeds, plants and equipment for our club, such as gloves, hand tools and watering cans. As the money is spent, what we've bought will be listed below, along with links to them being used on this website and links to the company we bought them from. After all, you may want to get some too! | |||||||||
| No longer will we walk in and out of the school again and again to refill our watering can. Now we have created an army of waterers, each with their own watering can, made out of these plastic tops that screw on to many common drinks bottles. One trip with many 2 litre bottles is enough to soak the garden. They were bought from a company called Future Foods, who work to keep old varieties of vegetables going. The Green Club have very kindly lent us their trowels over the past couple of years, but now we have been able to buy our own. These plastic trowels from Wilco's have a ruler on their blade, so you can see straight away how deep you are sowing seeds and planting plants. | ||||||||
| Many people have kindly donated pots to our Gardening Club. I bought a few more to make sure that next time to grow a load of plants, we will definately have enough. |
|

| We have also bought some childrens sized pairs of gloves and will be buying more soon. A photo of them will appear here soon. | |||||||||
